大学英语是高等教育的一个组成部分，作为非英语专业学生在本科教育阶段的公共必修课程，在人才培养方面具有不可替代的重要作用。大学英语旨在通过对英语语言知识与应用技能、学习策略和跨文化交际的学习，培养学生的英语综合应用能力，使他们在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行口头和书面的信息交流，同时增加其自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养。
