  • 第一章The way to success

    This unit tells students that every person can succeed as long as they stick to their dream. Text A tells why people should not give up, and Text B illustrates that adequate preparation and determination is the key to success.

  • 1.1Lead-in

    This part states clearly the teaching objectives of the Unit studies. Guided by two questions, students get to know what success is and what leads to success.

  • 1.2Text analysis

    In this part, on the basis of the text content, students are encouraged to find the examples and the respective details of each example directed by questions. Finally, a structure map provides students with a brief analysis of the example essay structure.

  • 1.3Writing skills

    In part three, students are expected to learn how to write an example essay. A sample paragraph is provided for students to identify the problems so that students can fully understand the guidelines of how to write a successful example essay.

  • 1.4Language focus

    In part four, students are expected to master and apply the important words, phrases, expressions and sentence structures in Text A.

  • 1.5Reading skills

    After learning this part, students are hoped to distinguish between the denotation and connotation of a word and use the words exactly right in their output.

  • 1.6Reading comprehension

    Text B is an extensive reading material. Students are hoped to comprehend the text through answering the questions. At the same time, some useful words, phrases, expressions and sentence structures are explained during the reading.

  • 1.7Theme expansion

    In the unit project, students are expected to finish a project in groups so as to help them find out the gap between the successful people and themselves and help them set their own goals as well as to enhance their team spirit at the same time.

    The two texts in this unit emphasize facing fear head-on. The courage to fight fear, in fact, may be summoned up from our inner world.

    Since ancient times, people have longed to see other parts of the world, accepting the challenges and enduring the discomforts of travel. Every journey is filled with new experiences, some pleasant, even amazing; others dangerous, terrifying, even life-threatening, especially when travelling alone. So, why not just stay safely at home, reading travel books or watching travel videos? Why do we travel? What would you do when no one travel with you?

    This unit centers on the topic of work—an indispensable part of individual lives. Text A argues, by the way of contrasting, that interest and enjoyment in work are important for the benefit of both individual and society. Text B, by the way of narrating, tells us a story of a shoemaker and the author.

  • 5.1Lead-in

    This part is to warm you up by discussing the factors you will prioritize when you are choosing your future job.

  • 5.2Text analysis

    A typical writing pattern, Comparison and Contrast, is reviewed in this part. And we will analyze the structure of Text A to explore the specific way of contrast in it.

    This part is a theme exploration of craftsmanship spirit. And you will get your mission for unit 5.

  • 第六章War and peace

    Both texts in this unit deal with the topic of war, but each one approaches it from a different angle: Text A presents the depiction of the brutal suffering of a family in the war through the eyes of a 7- year- old child, while Test B, focusing on the psychological trauma of war, describes vividly the valuable friendship between an American soldier and a French little kid as well as their final separation in wartime.

    I am confident of my intelligence and am glad to give my leather jacket to Rob in exchange for his girl friend, Polly.
